Barrissoka - Rebels comic strip - 2 by PDSmith Barrissoka - Rebels comic strip - 2 by PDSmith
This comic strip follows on the heals of and is the immediate sequel to Barrissoka - Rebels comic strip by PDSmith

Quick review Barris and Ahsoka wore the X-19 outfit at the end of the strip
 : www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/x1…

The idea was Ahsoka was spicing things up on the show.Star Wars Rebels...but with brazen acts comes
the responsibility to own up with the fallout if things go wrong.

'Dookie' has gone 'squishy' and hit the fan.

Good call! The idea was to be like a stargate but not have the dial up device but a guard, so I used this, www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/sc… Had Disney owed the Stargate show you can be darn toon'n I'd have used it as my device of choice for travel and placed it out in the open and not in a basement.

Awesome! A bit darker and dramatic, and I really felt Ahsoka's helplessness and desperation. I really like (as others have said) the accent given to Barriss, as it plays to her exotic nature for me. I was just waiting for the Aladdin/Ezra parallel to come up, lol, and I'm loving how you're handling the "real life behind our beloved characters" issue. Also, I sense a subtle (not so subtle?) guiding of having a bit of contempt (for lack of a better word, perhaps) of the "official" handling of the Barriss/Ahsoka situation and the concern many have for how respectfully they will be handling these characters we care about so much as time moves on. Perhaps we'll even be seeing the actors in "Rebels" come in with an opinion on the direction of the show/overall storyline? Could they join in the vilifying of those who may very well be "villains" of our cause? After all, I believe Kanan and Hera may be a bit sympathetic to Barriss and Ahsoka's lover's plight at the hands of certain writers, if where I see their (Kanan and Hera's) story going/hinted at is any indication. Hera is quite motherly (hence, her name) and not one to back down easily (Kanan either). Then again, perhaps the seeming fondness is all part of the "act"...and would Sabine get involved somehow as well (if not already, behind the scenes)... ;)

At any rate, as is obvious, I think the strip is doing a great job keeping us wondering and guessing. I look forward to more, and hopefully things will soon lighten up for our heroes of such a dedicated little fandom...and if certain romantic elements ignite along the way in the face of adversity, well, wouldn't that be nice, ha! MTFBWY

I think the big worry for those who are working the show, is people like me, and others who are still carrying the torch or in a few cases moving the torch forward in ways that could ride side by side with the show ( as I'm trying to do without stepping into the show). Barriss and Ahsoka are loved characters.  They have an established mythos that has taken them beyond their shows. it's why there are so few books that are official about them. When those two characters show up in Rebels it will dwarf the current characters in the minds of the fans. Loseing a fan base or shift of fan base = loss of rating later on.  What the fans want isn't what they are getting = turning the channel. I'm sure it's a problem they have discussed over and over. More on this in a bit

No cares enough about current group, at least not enough, they aren't established.  And the Villian's are are simple, straightforward, and similar to Gargamel. they have one goal, one task, and one direction. Perfect for the TV-Y7 crowd the show is written for. Too bad though... Star Wars: A New Hope when it came out had a PG rating, our parents felt we could handle its violence, two burnt bodies, two uses of hell and damn but would hold our hand with the extremely disturbing appearance of Darth Vader. Now? No one dies, no is hurt, its fluffy and soft. Hence the TV-Y7 rating.  Okay maybe you can help me here.  the purpose of advertising is to pay for a show right?  but when your show is TV-Y7 but the viewer demographic is also includeing 25 to 65. Most of us are not going to by those lame toys. The target audience is wrong, the show is being made for the wrong crowd....oh hell story idea...shutting up!

So I'll keep doing this strip....where the adults are adults and act like adults, and may even do a few adult things.

And yes things will lighten up.  But Ahsoka is stuck with her clothing punishment.  Do the crime, do the time.

one last thing....the next story is done. test rendering the new characters.
Hope to have it done by new years...hope. that's all I can say.

Agreed...and you pretty much hit it all fairly well on the head with what you're saying. It'll definitely be interesting to see where it all ends up, especially when Ahsoka (and I'm pretty sure Barriss) show up in "Rebels" and start continuing what was laid out before in TCW. The new characters' development versus the established characters' continued story...the biggest thing on everyone's lips who ACTUALLY care about the storylines that have been built/going on rather than just the visual eye candy of it all is, "When are Ahsoka and Barriss coming back and what will become of everything from thereon?!!" Much like you said, it seems it'll take over. The creators definitely have their work cut out for them, and are doing themselves no favors (in my opinion) by trying to break up fan-favorite teams that have a very DEDICATED following...! ;) *shrug*

Sounds good, can't wait to read the next installment! Understood about the time frame and all, especially with the holidays, etc., but the quality will be well worth the wait, I'm sure... :) MTFBWY

Beautiful renders. The posing especially is very well done. The characters truly feel like they are within each scene.

I like that you're playing up Barriss' English side that they introduced in TCW. I really love the accent that they gave her.

Now Snow White makes sense. :) You tied everything in very well. While I like overall outcome, you really hammered down on Ahsoka's despair. I hope we get some happier scenes coming up next. Excellent composition overall B-)

Life will get better. Time for a laugh and fun. And thank you.  I figured you or a few others would like the English slash I gave Barriss. The coloured bubbles are to be their accents since writting accents is so cliche that this just felt easier and more original and helps with who is speaking.

Ahsoka has hit bottom, time for fun and getting work.  '0bie' is helping me make a twilek of higher quality.  Time for Hera of Rebels to make her grand appearance...Ooooops Spoilers!

OK first off...naughty naughty naughty...for about 2 minutes I actually got my hopes up that Barris or Ahsoka were going to appear in Rebels (apparently Yoda is).

Now that that is out of the way. Fantastic job on these. I have a question. Did you make your own Barris texture? or did you find it online. and if found online might I ask where? I have found an Ahsoka texture set and head piece... but no mirialan texture sets. I am trying to set up a couple characters of two of my SWTOR characters who are Mirialan and have not had much luck.

Keep up the fantastic work. And the acerbic sense of humor. :)

Barriss was of my own making.  For Ahsoka, the Head piece and skin  was from a friend of mine.  Barriss has been hinted as being in Rebels in the future and working for the Empire.  also Ahsoka has been hinted she is Folcrum. her marking was on the side of box in a recent episode. some saw her face tatoo as being roughly close enought to the one on the box.  Speculation on the identity of Fulcrum in SWRI'm thinking that Saw Gerrera is a likely candidate, but I also noticed this.
Where have I seen Fulcrum’s symbol before?
Wait…
No.
It can’t be…
Has to be a coincidence…
and thanks for the compliment. more to come in the future.

Wow!!  This is very surreal, but the scenery is gorgeous.  Fascinating story that takes the characters into an interesting direction.  Really cool stuff :):)

Excellent comic. Something tells me you would be a fantastic screen writer for a law tv show.

I will take that as a compliment. I am a retired member of the US Navy JAG corp. I just didn't want to deal with law or legal anymore.  only on my own terms. I want to be able to say "Judge, this F*cker is guilty as F*cking sin, and needs to be locked up. Why? Cuz I said so."  As for TV..Rat race...I'd rather work for JJ Abrams in some back room writting scrips for Star Trek/Star Wars.  That would be the life. and......thank you for the compliment.

HA! I knew it! You are too damn talented at writing scenes that require proof, law, witnesses, etc!!! So it was from first hand experience that you got it! Write what you know, and you know it well. I'll let Darth Vader sum up the rest: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VWDek…

Sure why not. You saw the way Mary dressed and acted.  And After the way Ahsoka dressed in Clone Wars, you think our favourite little girl  would survive even a week of Mary Poppins boot camp of dress style and mannerisms from Mary?  Practically Perfect?  A spoon full of suger?  or being 'Spit spot' at all hours? Ahsoka would fall on her lightsaber by lunch time! :-)

LOL! That's a really well thought out comic Paul! I hope they won't come down on Ezra/Aladdin too hard. He always did some fine song and dance numbers, lol. You must have a super-powered computer, because I struggle with just four actors. Anyways nice job friend! Keep up the great work! ^^

If Rebels breaks out in a song and dance number I'm sure the show is done.
To see I'm not the only one.

I just think the idea of Street rat sealed the deal of comparison of Aladdin and Ezra.  it's an old tried and over used idea.  There are so many other idea's they could have gone with but 'Street rat' was the nail in the coffin. I give the Ezra character creation a 2 out of 10 for originality. it's pathetic. The only really two characters that have really potential for growth of interest are Sabine with her leaveing school for a unique reason and Kanan as a Jedi. Next story will home in on Hera. and some pointers from you for a superior twilek, v4 or genesis or g2f doesn't matter.

Heh! I liked Aladdin, but I'm with you... it has no place in the Star Wars universe. Hera, now that's a character I'm surprised they didn't come up with sooner. But you know me, I favor Twi'leks, so what do I know, lol!
I stand at the ready to help mon capitaine!

ah, yeah. it is very uncanny, then throw in the idea that Ezra's character creation says 'Street rat' like Aladdin... I'll let you make your own deductions from there.
